Bridge Literacy Project

Library Project

Through partnerships with organizations in Nigeria, Bridge Nigeria plans to source and distribute library materials to schools or community resource centers in Nigeria. In order to ensure sustainability of the literacy efforts and maintenance of the library projects Bridge Nigeria will work with partner schools and communities to establish Literary Clubs within such schools and communities.

Writing Contests

The Writing Contest will be open to students in secondary schools in Nigeria who will be invited to write on topics of social, academic and creative interest.  Contest submissions will be judged by an eminent panel of African writers on the basis of originality, content, quality & creativity.  The top entries will receive scholarship prizes and will be featured on the Bridge Nigeria website.

Writers Roundtable

Bridge Nigeria will hold events to celebrate literacy and encourage the development of writers, including a Writers Roundtable featuring young, Nigerian writers who have achieved international success.  Other events may include a panel discussion/presentation by educational policy and literacy experts who focus on Africa, who can discuss some of the challenges faced in literacy work and current efforts underway.

Sustainability & Measurement

For sustainability and value creation, Bridge Nigeria will evaluate the library project and survey participants and administrators in the writing contests to ensure that the efforts have measurable impact on literacy efforts in the relevant communities.
